Christ Church will mark the arrival of the liturgical season of Epiphany, the church’s celebration of the revealing of God’s love to all people, in what has become our traditional way—with a service of Choral Evensong, set for Sunday, January 6, at 5:00 p.m.

The liturgy will include the ancient words of the Magnificat and the Nunc Dimittis and prayers for the season. Plans also call for the choir to sing a dramatic anthem—“Awaken Us, O Lord,” with music by Mark Hayes and words by John Parker—that celebrates the Light that shines on us all, especially when we most need it.

Matt, Karen, and Collin Michels have again extended an invitation for worshipers—both members of the Christ Church family and those who are our guests—to join them following the Evensong at an open house in their home (1213 Walnut).

Plan to come, bringing food and drink to share if you can, and enjoy this special time of fellowship. And, if you can carpool, that’s even better, as parking is somewhat limited in their neighborhood.

Please do plan to attend the 2008 Epiphany Evensong, and invite friends, neighbors, and family, to join you. Contemplate this new season of the liturgical year in the midst of greens and candles in a darkened church.
